Reservoir lake bordered by trees in Singapore's central catchment
Inspection teams will test feeder valves near MacRitchie without cutting supply entirely.

Public utilities contractors will inspect feeder pipelines serving the central catchment area on two consecutive weekends in early September, according to notices circulated to residents' committees last week. The work focuses on valve integrity and pressure regulation equipment rather than major excavation.

Households within roughly one kilometre of MacRitchie Reservoir Park may experience brief dips in water pressure between 02:00 and 06:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Officials say supply will not be cut entirely, but shower pressure could feel softer during those windows.

What residents should do

Store drinking water if you rely on timed appliances overnight. Avoid running dishwashers during the listed maintenance hours. Town council WhatsApp groups will post reminders 24 hours ahead of each session.

Contractors must display permit numbers on site hoardings. Report unexpected discoloured water to the national feedback hotline and note the time — crews will flush hydrants if sediment is detected.
